ONTHHPC Cadets Shine at Hockey India League 2026: Five Podium Finishes, One Champion Team, and Record-Breaking Milestones
Bhubaneswar, January 26: Cadets from the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) delivered a strong showing at the Hockey India League (HIL) 2026, finishing on the podium with five medal-winning performances, including representation in the champion team and
achieving several individual milestones during the season.
In all, eight ONTHHPC cadets represented different franchises in HIL 2026, underlining the Centre’s growing contribution to India’s elite hockey talent pipeline.

Leading the success, Rohit Kullu, Deepak Pradhan, and Roshan Kujur were part of the Vedanta Kalinga Lancers, who clinched the HIL 2026 title. Anmol Ekka played a key role for Ranchi Royals, which finished as runners-up, while Irengbam Rohit Singh represented Hyderabad Toofans, securing a bronze medal.
The season also saw notable individual achievements. Adrohit Ekka, playing for Tamilnadu Dragons, scored his first-ever goal in the Hockey India League, marking a significant career milestone.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Vivek Lakra, representing Shrachi Bengal Tigers, created history by becoming the youngest player in HIL history to earn a record contract, reflecting his rapid rise in the domestic circuit.
Pradip Mandal represented JSW Soorma Hockey Club, completing the ONTHHPC contingent.
“Seeing our cadets perform under pressure, contribute consistently and finish on the podium at the Hockey India League is a proud moment for the entire ONTHHPC ecosystem,” said Gurmeet Singh Rao, Project Director, ONTHHPC. “These results reflect years of disciplined training and the collective effort of our athletes, coaches, and support staff.”

ONTHHPC congratulated all eight cadets for their performances and acknowledged the HIL
franchises for providing a high-intensity competitive platform. The Centre reaffirmed its
commitment to developing players capable of excelling at the national and international levels.
