The fourth edition of the Odisha Naval Tata Hockey Summer Camp got underway on an energetic note in Bhubaneswar, setting the stage for over two weeks of intensive hockey training and engaging fun activity.

Organised in collaboration with the Department of Sports & Youth Services (DSYS), Odisha, the camp runs from May 4 to May 21 and brings together young aspirants aged 6 to 16 for structured exposure to the sport.

The opening ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Soumya Sarthak Mishra, OAS, Deputy Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, along with Ashish Kumar Rout, ORS, Officer on Special Duty (OSD), and Dr. Saswat Kumar Rout, OSD, from the same department.

Addressing the budding players, they underlined the importance of discipline, teamwork, and consistency, qualities central to success on the hockey field.

The action began immediately after the formalities, with participants undergoing a focused Strength and Conditioning session. Designed to build endurance, agility, and core strength, the session offered an early glimpse into the camp’s high-performance approach.

With over 80 young players in attendance, the camp reflects Odisha’s deepening hockey culture and its steady pipeline of emerging talent. Participants from across the state have assembled with a common goal: to sharpen their skills under professional guidance and gain a deeper understanding of the modern game.

Blending technical drills, fitness routines, and mentorship, the camp aims to provide a holistic training environment. As Odisha continues to cement its reputation as a key hub for Indian hockey, initiatives like this summer camp remain crucial in shaping the next
