HPC girls win Silver Medal for Khordha in the HAO State Senior Women's Hockey Championship 2022
Cadets from our High-Performance Centre clinched silver at the recently held HAO State Senior Women’s Hockey Championship 2022. Hockey Association of Odisha organized the tournament and the matches were played at the KIIT University Hockey Stadium.
Odisha Secretariat came out on top in the final against our cadets representing the Khordha district with a score line of 4-1.
While the final may not have gone the way we had wished for, the team came back with a lot of positives. The coaches were happy with the coordination and communication between the players throughout the tournament. Emphasis was given on tactical instructions and the players responded by scoring 30 goals in the 4 matches.
Having scored 5 goals all tournament including the one in the final, Kamla Singh was awarded the best forward of the tournament by David John, Director of Hockey Odisha. When asked about her experience playing this tournament, she said – “it was the first time I played a district level competition and it was a lovely experience. Playing four matches in four days was challenging and the final was tough but I’m proud of my teammates. We want to play more of these tournaments.”
