After impressive performances at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022 in Madhya Pradesh, the Odisha men’s U18 hockey team was felicitated by the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS), Odisha. The state team comprised of fifteen HPC cadets, captained by our star midfielder Rosan Kujur. The silver medalists were coached by our boys vertical, head coach – P Lakshminarayana.

For the felicitation ceremony, Minister of State – DSYS, Govt of Odisha, Shri Tusharkanti Bahera and Hockey India president – Shri Dilip Tirkey were present. They handed over a cheque of Rs. 13,50,000/- to the team for their medal winning performance in Gwalior.
Our HPC boys team that earlier toured Bangladesh were called on to the stage and were awarded a cash prize for their efforts. 7 HPC girls who were part of the Odisha state U14 team that played an invitational hockey tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were also celebrated for their gold medal.
It wasn’t just hockey that brought laurels to the state of Odisha as they also finished in the top 10 of the overall medal standings for the first time at the Khelo India Youth Games. This is a testimony to the vision and effort taken by the government and Honorable Chief Minister – Shri Naveen Patnaik Ji.
