HPC Cadet Jyoti Chhatri called up to Indian Senior Team Camp

With a test series in Australia lined up before the all-important Asian Games, Hockey India earlier today named a 33-member probables core group for a national camp to be held at Sports Authority of India (SAI), Bengaluru. This camp, conducted by Indian head coach Janneke Schopman will be used to fine-tune the combinations and strategies for the coming months.

The Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Center is proud to share that cadet Jyoti Chhatri who has been with the junior team for over a year, has also been included in this camp. Chhatri, who started her journey from the Sports Hostel in Panposh, Rourkela joined the HPC in the year 2019. Along with three more cadets, she was called to the junior Indian team in May 2022 and made her debut for the team in Ireland at the Uniphar 5-Nations Tournament where India finished second. She later travelled to South Africa for a series of games against the South African A team and junior team.

HPC Project Director – Mr. Rajiv Seth was elated at the news and said, “We are proud of her. She has been a role model for other cadets at our HPC and always gave her 100% in training. We hope she can make her debut soon for the senior team as well and we’d be proud to welcome her back to Kalinga Stadium for an international game where her journey took off.”

While we’re all waiting to watch Chhatri don the senior team colors, the defender is also focused on making the Junior World Cup squad which will be held in Santiago, Chile later this year.
