ONTHHPC SETS UP 3 NEW GRASSROOT CENTERS IN ODISHA

ONTHHPC in conjunction with the Govt. of Odisha inaugurated three new grassroots centers in three districts of Odisha.

On 1st September 2023, ONTHHPC inaugurated 3 new grassroots centers at Bhamini, Nabarangpur, PPL Paradeep, Jagatsinghpur and Dakshinipali, Subarnapur with an aim to nurture the next generation of talent from Odisha.

In recent times Odisha has become a hockey hub in the country and ONTHHPC has played a vital role in this.

The addition of these new 3 grassroots centres, will take the total tally of Hockey Training Centers (HTCs) in Odisha to 28 and 2 more HTCs are in line to open soon at Cuttack and Khurda.

In these 3 new centres, ONTHHPC is expecting to train 200 players per center each year. ONTHHPC will provide 2 coaches per center, pool kits to players, and an organized ecosystem and exposure for players to grow and reach their full potential, a career path where they can get scouted and get admission to Sports Hostels/ONTHHPC. The players will also get to participate in a state-level grassroots league where they will compete with players from every part of the state. Additionally, ONTHHPC will also provide a pathway for coaches to advance and obtain the desired licenses in the future.

The grassroots centers were inaugurated by Hockey India President Padma Shree Dilip Tirkey. The virtual inauguration ceremony was also attended by Shri Siddhartha Das (IAS), Director, Sports, DSYS, Govt of Odisha, Shri Rajiv Seth, Project Director, ONTHHPC, and all administrative heads of these districts.
